Spanish, Español, is a romance language that originated in Europe, more specifically Spain. It is currently spoken by more than 358 million people in various regions of the world including, but not limited to, Spain, the Americas, Australian, and African. In the early 21st century, in Mexico with a population of about 85 million, in Colombia the Spanish speaking population circles around 40 million, in Argentina more than 35 million, in USA more than 31 million and in the motherland Spain more than 30 million being communicate using the Spanish language. With only the United States being an exemption, all of the countries above use Spanish as their national language. The Spanish that is spoken in Spain is a special kind known as CASTILIAN, after the dialect from which the current day standard Spanish developed from. That dialect was commonly used during the 9th century around the town of Burgos in north-central Spain (Old Castile) and, as Spain was re-conquered from the Moors, spread southward to central Spain (New Castile) around Madrid and Toledo by the 11th century. In the late 15th century the kingdoms of Castile and Leon merged with the kingdom of Aragon, and soon after that Castilian became the official language of the region. The regional dialects of different areas like Aragon, Navarra, Leon, Asturias, and Santander were crowded out rapidly and today survive only in secluded rural areas which lack connection with the modern world. It is also mentionable the remarkably archaic form of Spanish with many borrowings from Arabic, it is known primarily from Mozarabic refrains (called kharjahs) added to Arabic and Hebrew poems. Outside the Iberian Peninsula, Spanish is widely spoken, and oftentimes is the official language in many places, in virtually all of Central and South America with the only major exception being Brazil. The major differences between Spanish and English are that nouns are marked for masculine or feminine gender, and plurals are marked by the addition of -s or -es; adjectives change endings to agree with nouns. The verb system is complex yet, for the most part, regular: it uses indicative, imperative, and subjunctive moods; preterit, imperfect, present, future, conditional, and a variety of perfect and progressive tenses; and passive and reflexive constructions.

In today's world, the Spanish language is becoming more and more important. A survey from the US Census Bureau states that over 1 in 8 Americans are Hispanic which will be tripled by 2050. This survey proved that if you know the Spanish language, it will give you a huge boost in the coming years.
